Enough is Enough
With this premise, it is obiovus that this thread will be a rant.
Today we made an hard decision: we decided to leave any contact with gaming industry in favour of only indie or open source development. The decision was made because fortunately all of us now have a work and we are not compelled to withstand the arrogance and spite of may of ours contractors and more specifically, the menaces and mad requests that some of them was doing to us expecially in these last months.
We are tired to sign contracts and have to fight with lawyers to have them honored. We are tired to see some projects cancelled only because we weren’t going to work with them forever (at half the rate usually we contract freelance work from them, of course). We are tired to be ganked by their lawyers that want to control how we employ our free time in game development and how we employ the technologies we are licensing.
I’m not quitting, you can see it like a way to relocate my efforts in game development. As said I’m mostly concerned supporting indie developers and open source at the moment. At least community and supporters are more direct and less spiteful.
For others zerosoft members I don’t really know, they’re most scarred than me from the last events since they’re working on the last project that were cancelled because we didn’t accepted an underpayed job offering.
I feel is time to change, but I’ve to decide in what direction I and other people will go. Stay tuned.
